Travel To Belize     Map of Belize

Greetings from Cayo Espanto,

We are delighted to have you spend your Holiday on your own private island, where paradise and luxury come together as one. Adventurous days are followed by even more romantic evenings, as quiet hammocks swaying in the breeze lull you into relaxation. Let Cayo Espanto exceed all of your fantasies of your own tropical paradise!

You will most likely fly into Belize International Airport on Delta Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines or TACA. Flights are available from Atlanta (2 hours and 55 minutes), Miami (1 hour and 40 minutes), Houston (1 hour and 55 minutes), and Dallas (2 hours and 30 minutes).

Upon your arrival, you will clear immigration and claim your luggage. Wheeled carts are provided at no charge. You are permitted to bring one bottle of liquor or two bottles of wine into Belize per person.

Next, you clear customs where you will be greeted by a variety of friendly baggage handlers. They will assist you with your luggage once you arrive at customs and beyond. They will do all the lifting onto and off of the customs counters for you if you allow them to. Gratuity for baggage handlers is usually fifty cents - one dollar US per bag. (let them have it all, you will enjoy the freedom) Margie, from the Cayo Espanto Staff will meet you outside Customs. She will then direct you to the Maya Island Air ticket counter, to check in for your flight to San Pedro. This airline uses planes ranging in size from 12 passenger Caravans to a Cessna 172. You may choose from a scheduled flight or a private charter. The scheduled flights are frequent, but a private charter would reduce wait times.

Scheduled flights cost approximately $120 (US) per person, round-trip. A private charter will vary in price, depending on the size of Airplane.

Another option would be a quick helicopter ride to land directly on Cayo Espanto. This four passenger, Bell 206 is approximately $1,140 (US) one-way, plus tax or $2,280 plus tax round-trip. Click here for flight options

We will pre-arrange the transfer option of your choice and the ticket cost can be settled at check-in with the Airline / Helicopter company.

The flight time is 17 to 19 minutes. It includes beautiful views of various islands and the second largest barrier reef in the world (it will be on your right). Keep an eye out for manatee as you leave the mainland and look for rays and dolphins, as you get closer to the islands.

Before boarding, ask your pilot to let you know when Cayo Espanto is in view. Just before landing in San Pedro, you will see Cayo Espanto to the left (you should recognize it from photos). You will be met at the San Pedro airport by our staff and taken via golf cart or taxi directly to one of our shuttle boats just a few hundred yards away. You will enjoy a 7 minute ride to Cayo Espanto. Your luggage will be handled for you the entire time.
